Description
FINANCE ASSISTANT
We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Finance Assistant to join our Operations team in a one-year contract capacity. In this role, you will help ensure the accuracy, integrity, and efficiency of our financial processes—supporting everything from donation processing and accounts payable to reconciliations and reporting.
You will work closely with our Senior Accountant and collaborate with teams across the organization to support fundraising activities, international programming, and operational processes. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with numbers, improving systems, and contributing to meaningful global impact.

THE JOB
- Maintain accurate financial records by processing invoices, deposits, journal entries, and reconciliations in NetSuite while ensuring transactions are properly coded and documented.
- Administer donation and payment processing, including recording donations from multiple payment channels, and supporting accurate donor records.
- Manage accounts payable processes, including invoice intake, expense reports, payment setup (including international payments), corporate credit card reconciliation, and payment confirmations.
- Complete monthly financial reconciliations, including bank and balance sheet accounts, investigating discrepancies and ensuring accuracy in financial reporting.
- Support financial reporting, audits, and internal controls by preparing reconciliations, maintaining documentation, and assisting with annual audit requirements and process improvements.
- Provide operational support across the organization, including assisting with fundraising campaign administration, benefits and RRSP setup for staff, ad-hoc financial reporting, and contributing to cross-department collaboration.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
- Relevant experience: 2+ years in accounting, finance, or bookkeeping, preferably in a nonprofit or charitable organization
- Educational background: Degree or diploma in Accounting, Business, or a related field (preferred, but not required)
- Technical proficiency: Comfortable with accounting software (NetSuite or similar), spreadsheets, and digital tools
- Accuracy & organization: Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Problem-solving & collaboration: Analytical, proactive, and able to work independently while contributing to a supportive team environment
- Mission alignment: Interest in international development, humanitarian work, and contributing to meaningful community impact
THE DETAILS
This is a fully remote (within Canada) full-time position (37.5 hours per week)on a one year maternity leave contract. We offer a competitive annual salary ranging from $52,000.00 to $58,000.00, along with a full suite of additional benefits, including 100% employer-paid medical and dental coverage, generous RRSP matching, and three weeks annual paid vacation to support a healthy work-life balance.
